This will be one of MANY pet peeves about other drivers. I am not a fan of driving, in general, and I always try to get out of doing it. The main reason I hate to drive is that you can’t trust other drivers. People are insane when they’re behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, and they take dangerous chances every day. I wish I didn’t have to be on the road with them. But since I do, I will attempt to offer some safety advice, starting with his post.
Always come to a complete stop! There, I said it. I’ve wanted to shout that many times at fellow drivers, but I’m fairly certain they wouldn’t hear me yelling from inside my car. So I’m telling you, even though I know only the safest of drivers read my blog. When you are at a stop sign, come to a complete stop. This includes 4-way stops. When you’re at a red light, even if you plan to turn right, come to a complete stop. If you are stopped (even completely) behind another car that is at a stop sign or red light, you should still stop when you approach the sign or light. I need you to stop at these places so that I know what to expect. I can’t drive carefully if I can’t anticipate what you are doing. That is the essence of driving: all drivers must understand what others are doing, so as to act properly. For more on stop sign and red light laws, click here. Or, just make a vow not to be stupid.
